Biography
Theresia Atanga Wansi, Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor of Finance at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, and an accomplished scholar, educator, and financial economist with more than two decades of experience in higher education. Since joining Marymount University in 2007, she has provided academic and professional leadership across finance and economics, teaching undergraduate and graduate students in both traditional and online environments. Her areas of expertise include financial economics, corporate finance, behavioral finance, financial literacy, and economic development, with a particular interest in applying financial knowledge to real-world business and economic challenges.
Dr. Wansi brings a highly multidisciplinary academic foundation to her work. She earned a Ph.D. in Financial Economics, MBA in Finance, MA in Economics, and BSc in Business Administration with a Computer Science option from the University of New Orleans, as well as an MBA-PLUS in Information and Technology Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This combination of finance, economics, business administration, technology, and quantitative analysis has informed her approach to teaching, research, and professional engagement, particularly at the intersection of financial decision-making, technology, and business strategy.
As a researcher and thought leader, Dr. Wansi has contributed to scholarship addressing financial risk and leverage, financial crises, foreign-exchange reserves, purchasing-power parity, microfinance, entrepreneurship, and financing challenges affecting small and medium-sized enterprises. Her international research and professional engagements have included work relating to financial literacy and microfinance across multiple emerging markets, including Cameroon, China, India, Kenya, Venezuela, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
