Biography
Ekwa Yawa Monono is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Buea, Cameroon. As an Agriculture Research Officer with the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) Cameroon since 2016, he has dedicated his career to advancing sustainable farming practices and strengthening food security through evidence-based research. With expertise in crop production, crop management, soil fertility, and agricultural innovation, he designs and implements studies that address pressing challenges faced by farmers and rural communities. His work bridges scientific inquiry with practical solutions, ensuring that research findings are translated into farmer-friendly recommendations.
In addition to research, Monono has taught at the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) and is currently teaching at the Pan African Institute for Development – West Africa (PAID-WA), Buea, Cameroon since 2015, where he has been training students and professionals in agricultural sciences. He has successfully coordinated field trials, supervised multidisciplinary teams of technicians and extension workers, and facilitated training programs for farmers and stakeholders.
His achievements include publishing 21 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, advising on agricultural development strategies, and fostering collaborations between research institutions, government agencies, and local communities. He has contributed to the development of improved crop varieties, promoted climate-smart agriculture, and supported initiatives that enhance value addition through crop processing and transformation.
